"How long should I meditate for?" ~ student
"How should I know?" ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of mindfulness-based stress reduction.
The topic of "how long" is a frequent question that new practitioners want an answer to. I get it! It's natural that we want to get it "right" when we start something new. And of course, we also want to want to know how much time we will need to do to get the most benefits. Our results-driven culture wants the formula for enlightment!
Unfortunately, there is not "right" answer for everyone. In this short video, I give you some things to think about when guiding your practice duration.
Remember that as you get more comfortable, you may find that you crave a longer duration to really go deep in your meditative practice.
As a general guideline, a once or twice daily practice of 15-45 minutes will certainly provide a great deal of value for you.
